Flowers and Fruit - The color, size, shape, scent, and number of petals can be decisive for identification.
Stems and Branches - Note if the plant is herbaceous (soft, non-woody) or woody. For woody plants, the bark's texture, color, and pattern are useful. Stems can also be round, square, or triangular.
Other Features - The presence of hairs, thorns, or barbs can also be a distinguishing feature.
